Looking back on my long, active life which included nursing, real estate and farming, I’m most proud of our four children. I enjoy watching how they are raising their children ages 11 to 25 and to be what I am proud to love and call my grandchildren. Now have two young step great grandchildren. My husband of 50 years passed in 2022 after an extensive illness, both physical and mental. We were able to fulfill his wish to be cared for in the home, and not going to a nursing home or hospital.
Now I spend my days with trying to simplify life and home. Was volunteering at the local hospital but recently decided it would be best not to spend this winter there. This year, I did join a singing group, where we performed at several events. That was loads of fun! I love uplifting music and play it daily. Might even catch me dancing in the kitchen! Gave 30 years to singing at our church. Like spending time with girlfriends. Can’t say I enjoy it, but go to exercise classes, walk the road whenever it’s over 40 degrees and try to stay fit. Haven’t had an opportunity to go on many trips but love going to the beach. Recently son-in-law purchased a boat and I was on the water a few times this summer. My two bucket list items are watching grandchildren in their sports and going to the beach.
Spent half of my life in the city, Columbus, attending Catholic schools, and now live on a small farm and while I use to raise beef cattle and sheep, I have turned the pasture over to an Amish neighbor and can look out and see lovely horses, Belgium and Standard Bred, and a few cows. I look forward to receiving communion at our church, hearing a good homily/sermon on Sunday. When I can’t think of what else to get into, I bring out my easel and start drawing.
Think it’s time to bring a gentleman into my life. While I’m pleased with life as it is, but think the right man would enhance my life, and hopefully also his. Am praying that God directs my quest and brings him my way, when he is ready! Hopefully that is soon!!
