Aside from teaching math, I also take improvisational acting classes and perform with the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater group (you may remember their Comedy Central show). Will I ever make it to the big time as a comic actor - only God knows for sure. For the time being, teaching is my career and acting is one way I blow off steam. I'm also a big-time music lover and was even a vocalist in a band with other teachers - "Midnight Jester." We mainly performed classic rock covers, but occasionally did a few originals. Travel has also become a major interest for me, and I look forward to mid-August when the opportunity arises for me to jet elsewhere for a couple of weeks. My religious background is an interesting one. Are you sure you're ready for this? O.K., here goes... My mother, though confirmed a practicing Catholic, is Jewish by blood (her mom was Jewish). My father is a practicing Jew - he keeps relatively Kosher, lights candles every Sabbath, and observes the major Jewish holidays, though I think "A Flock of Seagulls" had a #1 hit song the last time he attended synagogue. I, though baptized Catholic at 12, celebrate both sets holidays; I fast for Lent as well as for Yom Kippur, for example. To borrow a phrase from Mike Meyers in the SNL skit "Coffee Talk", I guess I'm a "Cashew" - a Jewish Catholic.
